Ugandan container loaded.
25 January 2012
The loading of this container
to Uganda went well. The contents will benefit ten different projects.
They include four cubic metres of school books and scholar packs. Many pupils
will receive a scholar pack which includes pens, pencils, paper, a calculator and ruler
etc. These packs have been put together by school children and churches in this country
and then we send them out with educational books. A big thank you to all children and
parents here who support us in this way. A scholar pack can make so much difference to
many African children who often do not have a ready supply of these items.

16 bikes, 6 wheelchairs, 40 carpentry kits, and much more. We also sent 2 cubic metres

Chairs for Rwanda.
2 December 2011
It was a cold but sunny day for
loading this box for Rwanda. It contained dozens of stackable chairs, some for children,
some adult size. They can be difficult to pack as tall stacks tend to lean over, many small
stacks wastes space above and below the chairs. We also packed 145 sewing machines, 86
carpentry kits, 22 groundworkers' kits and a complete public address system. There were
also many other tool kits, workshop power tools, books and haberdashery items.
Altogether there was a total of 645 items in the container.

Terry Heath got our Coventry

to Ian Schooler. Ian has been involved as Terry's 'apprentice' so
has all the right experience. We are all sure he will make a very fine manager.

A busy weekend for TWAM Midlands.
8 August 2011
This weekend – August 6th & August 7th has been for the TWAM ( Midlands ) unit a very busy one.
On Saturday the TWAM ( Midlands ) team set up their marquee in the Coventry Memorial Park at the Donkey Derby run by the Lions and where they have had a stall for the last two years. The aim of the game is to sell those items which we are not able to refurbish or pass on, but primarily to spread the TWAM word and to encourage people to work with us if they would like to. As a marketing event it works well and we found that people are now returning to us each year, having visited the stall previously.
This year we were invited on Sunday to run a TWAM stall by the Fernhill Heath Baptist Church, Worcester at their ‘Village Fun Day’. The idea was to market TWAM and their community would support us by having a type of Harvest Event and various collecting points in the village where people would bring their unwanted tools. Again the marquee went up with not only our large TWAM banner on it but the Fernhill Heath Baptist Church banner underneath it. This has proved to be an example of a Christian Charity and a Church working together to promote the work of TWAM. The marquee was filled with all sorts of old but useful tools, gardening equipment and plenty of publicity material was handed out. Our recent photographs were displayed and seating was available to encourage people to talk with us. Once people had talked to ‘The Team’ they moved along where we had a large tarpaulin outside covered with bric a brac from various house clearances and got a second opportunity to talk with other team members. Plenty of our customers said what a wonderful idea TWAM is and what wonderful work we are doing so much so that their intention was to go home and clear their garages. In order also to encourage such folk the Fernhill Heath Baptist Church members intend to leaflet drop in their village reinforcing the collection points.
The whole weekend also served to promote fellowship amongst the TWAMmers and it had a triple benefit in that TWAM, the local church and the people receiving our tools abroad benefit.
All felt the two days hard work was well worth it.
